Salix lutea

  • Grows to 3m high and wide
  • Fairly thick and bushy
  • Shiny green leaves in the summer turn bright yellow in fall
  • Very nice bright silver pussy willows (male catkin) about 2cm long that come out in early spring
  • Dramatic vibrant yellow twigs in the winter

Landscape Use:

  • Mix with dogwoods, which are of similar size and form, for exceptional winter appeal; remember, winter doesn’t have to be dreary
  • You can look forward to harvesting your own pussy willows in spring
  • Native pollinators (bees) feed on the early flowers
  • Likes full sun
  • Extremely drought tolerant for Calgary and area gardens
