Landscape Use: Use where a large coarse shrub is needed for screening, windbreak, and bird habitat. It’s called chokecherry for a good reason, although the fruit can be used for jellies or wine.Prefers full sun and windy conditions.Extremely drought tolerant for Calgary and area gardens.Special Conditions: This is a large shrub, so make sure you have adequate room for it. Always look for a local seed sourced plant because they are less susceptible to black knot. The more open and windy the area, the healthier the plant.
